Self Expiring Visitor Badges
Schools, government buildings, health care facilities & the workplace in general have been tightening their security in recent years. Most places now have their employees & visitors wear badges. Visitor badges have a drawback – how do you tell when the badge has expired? There is a solution out there – self expiring visitor badges.
Most visitors have to sign-in with the receptionist or security officer. They are assigned a badge number and a badge marked “visitor.” They sign-out before leaving the building and return the badge to the front desk. The problem with this process is every visitor badge looks the same and can only be identified as unique close up. It could also be misplaced during the visit or the visitor may forget to return it. If lost, someone could pick it up and use it to access the building.
Self expiring visitor badges change visually when the badge has expired. At the start of the visit, the badge is white and when the authorized time has expired, red stripes appear to alert everyone that this person should no longer be in the building. Self Expiring Badges come in different time periods – half day, one day or one week.
